City budget receives first reading, public comment

The City Council heard the first reading of the 2006 mid-biennium budget, as well as public comment on the proposal, during the Dec. 6 meeting. The plan would create a balanced budget through 2006 and the 2007-2008 biennium by redesigning the City organization for greater efficiency and eliminating 41 positions – 22.5 of which are currently filled. The Council is scheduled to vote on the budget package during the Dec. 13 meeting.
