City authorizes agreement with Economic Development Board

The Tacoma City Council unanimously voted to authorize a two-year agreement with the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Tacoma-Pierce County.

Under the agreement, the city will spend $85,000 from the general fund budget for EDB services aimed at economic development in Tacoma.

The decision came during the Dec. 13 council meeting.

The EDB is a private, non-profit corporation established in 1978 as a partnership between private business and the public sector to encourage economic development in Tacoma-Pierce County.  The EDB’s Mission is to increase the quality and number of jobs as well as capital investment within the county. 

The EDB is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives from the private and public sectors.
