Children's Museum of Tacoma will open preschool

The Children’s Museum of Tacoma announced today it will launch a new preschool this fall that will serve children ages 3 to 5 years old.

The museum, located at 1501 Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma, is now enrolling students for the upcoming school year, which will begin on Sept. 11 and turn through May 23, 2013. The preschool will include weekly engagement in a creative classroom and use of full museum environment; a 1 to 6 adult to child ratio, plus inclusion of parents in cooperative options and celebrations; documentation of child’s growth and development over academic year; commitment to whole family learning, including resources for the adults and parents; classes facilitated by experienced Museum program staff; museum membership included with enrollment; and curbside drop-off and pick-up options.

Class sizes are limited. Morning sessions will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Afternoon sessions will run Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The standard cost ranges from $2,250 to $3,375. A co-op option ranges from $1,350 to $2,250.
