BPI celebrates 42-year anniversary with new facility in Fife, Washington

Fife, Washington:  BPI Medical has moved their surgical instrument repair operations and Manufacturing and Modifications Division to a new facility in Fife.  With nearly triple the previous space, BPI has expanded its cutting-edge repair, machining, and manufacturing operations to meet the needs of the medical industry.

Bob Overmars, president and CEO of BPI Medical said, “The new facility allows us to meet the growing demands of our customers in hospitals and surgery centers across the country.  Our expanded footprint increases both our repair operations and our Instrument Manufacturing and Custom Modifications divisions.  We have improved our workflow and are implementing the latest LEAN techniques, which allows us to provide our customers with shorter lead times and faster delivery.”

“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to the medical industry and to the Puget Sound community,” Overmars continued.  “We’ve been in four different facilities over our forty-year history and they’ve all been in the Pierce County.  The medical providers in the Pacific Northwest are on the forefront of patient care and we’re proud of the support services we provide to them, our customers.”

“We have worked with BPI Medical for many years and we are thrilled to celebrate their expansion right here in Pierce County,” said Bruce Kendall, president and CEO of the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County. “It is fantastic to see a home-grown company creating good paying jobs for our residents.”

Located near the intersection of 54th Avenue and 12th Street in Fife, BPI’s new location increases the amount of floor-space for their cutting-edge manufacturing facility and repair center.  This additional space will allow for the expansion of the highly-specialized custom surgical instrument manufacturing and modification department.
