BECU expands program for Puget Sound schools

BECU, the largest credit union in Washington, expanded its School-Aid program to encompass all 33 communities where it maintains an Express Service Center (ESC). Express Service Centers allow Credit Union members to perform transactions and speak to BECU representatives. They also provide BECU members with free after-hours access to ATM, online and telephone banking services.

Through School-Aid, BECU will donate five dollars to the selected School-Aid school for each new member who joins BECU at the ESC in their community from March 1st through April 30th. In addition, each School-Aid school will have access to BECU’s educational seminar titled “Savertooths’ Amazing Savings Adventure” which teaches kids about setting goals, saving, wants vs. needs and more. Schools are selected based upon economic need in the community where BECU maintains an ESC. (A list of all BECU ESC’s and the assigned School-Aid school is attached)

“At BECU our goal is to improve the lives of our members and help make a difference in our communities,” said Debbie Wege, BECU Community Outreach and Education Manager. “Through School-Aid we are able to give back to the children in our communities through monetary support, free financial education, and the volunteer efforts of our employees.”

In 2004, the School-Aid program resulted in over $35,000 being donated to Puget Sound area schools. Donated fund were used for the purchase of musical instruments, books and a bilingual curriculum, to name just a few.

With over 390,000 members and more than $5.0 billion in assets, BECU is the largest credit union in Washington and one of the top ten financial cooperatives in the country. All Washington state residents are eligible to join BECU. For more information about BECU, visit http://www.becu.org.
