Area hit by high winds, heavy rains on Christmas

It wasn’t exactly a white Christmas for the South Sound this holiday season, with even more wind and rain expected to wallop the area tonight and tomorrow.

Strong winds and heavy rains hit Western Washington on Christmas Day, but worse weather is expected as another storm front rolls into the region on Friday.

Gale warnings were in effect for central Washington and the coast, while heavy snow warnings were issued for the Olympics and Cascade mountains, with a possibility of flooding for the Skokomish River in Mason County.

A high wind watch has been issued for Western Washington and the northern parts of the Oregon coast for Friday, with winds up to 60 mph expected.
