3 locals receive Tacoma Historical Society awards

The Tacoma Historical Society has announced the recipients of this year’s Murray Morgan Award, Alan Liddle Award, and Star of Destiny Award.Since helping to organize the society in 1990, Stenger has given or assisted with 13 presentations. Tacoma architect August Gene Grulich was presented with the society’s Alan Liddle Award in recognition of his longstanding involvement in preservation of Tacoma’s historic buildings. Tacoma photographer Ron Karabaich was honored with a special Star of Destiny Award for his many contributions to the society and the cause of local history.

The awards were presented Tuesday during the organization’s 22nd annual meeting at the University of Puget Sound. The event also included local historian Ronald E. Magden, who screened and discussed a rare 1929 Tacoma film. For more information, visit tacomahistory.org.
