Its off to the races to celebrate 30 years of community and competition at the 2002 Sound to Narrows Run.
This years event proceeds will benefit the MultiCare Center For Healthy Living and its stroke prevention efforts.
Tacomas annual kickoff to summer will be held on Saturday, June 8.
The 12-kilometer run, which begins at Vassault Park, traverses the scenic and hilly terrain of west Tacoma and Point Defiance Park.
There will also be a 5-kilometer fast-paced run and walk that includes strollers and baby joggers, and a 2-kilometer Junior Shuffle for children 10 years old and under.
In addition, thousands of armed forces personnel will run in the military division competition that precedes the other events.
The $24 entry fee includes a T-shirt, food and drinks upon reaching the finish line. Groups of four or more may register for $19 each.
Entry is free for children 10 years or younger, and to all active military who take part in the military divisions.
