The Tacoma Landmarks Preservation Commission will conduct a public hearing at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, on a proposed name change of Commencement Bay Park to Jack Hyde Memorial Park.
Hyde was a long-time City Council member.
He won the election for mayor of Tacoma, taking office in January 1994.
He died of heart failure just 17 days into his term.
Citizens can speak to the commission about the significance of this name change at the hearing in Room 16, Tacoma Municipal Building North, 728 St. Helens Ave.
Another option for those who want to be hear on this issue is to submit written comments, which will be accepted from Feb. 27 through March 29, to the Historic Preservation Office, 747 Market St., Room 1036, Tacoma WA 98402-3721.
