“The Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library has issued a call for nominations for the annual Washington Governor’s Writers Awards.All books, in all genres, produced by Washington authors during the previous calendar year are eligible for jury review. To be part of the competition, a publisher or author must submit one review copy. The deadline to enter is May 1.To submit a book, forward the review copy to Governor’s Writers Awards, Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library, 1000 Fourth Avenue, Seattle, 98104-1193.Titles submitted for jury review become part of the Washington Authors Collection, currently housed at the Washington State Library.A Washington author must meet at least one of the following criteria:- Born in Washington State;- Spent at least 10 of the first 18 years of his or her life in Washington; or- Is a current resident of Washington and published after having resided in the state for at least one year.Entries are judged on literary merit, lasting importance, and overall quality.The awards have been given since 1967.
