Tacoma City Council is scheduled to hear the final reading of an ordinance March 20 relating to an admission tax that would remove the exemption provided to nonprofit organizations and require nonprofit organizations with annual earnings of more than $300,000 or assets in excess of $50 million to collect a 5 percent tax on all admission charges effective July 1. The ordinance would also establish specific exemptions to the collection requirement for fundraising activities and school-related events. Tacoma City Council meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, on the first floor of the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market Street.
