Tacoma City Council is scheduled Tues., Feb. 7 to hear the first reading of an ordinance that would amend the municipal code related to Click! Cable TV products to increase rates for cable television products and related services. The increase would be effective April 1, 2012, and is designed to generate additional revenue for commercial telecommunication operations and to assist in recovering costs as represented in the 2011-2012 budget. During the same meeting, City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the proposed sale of a single-family home and 10 acres acquired by Tacoma Power located at 1670 Spencer Road for $185,000. The hearing will start at approximately 5:30 p.m. Finally, City Council is scheduled to hear the first reading of an ordinance that would amend the municipal code related to Land Use and Title 1 provisions for large retail uses by instituting a new Conditional Use Permit requirement, increasing associated notification and community input opportunities, and increasing the use of size limitation in certain districts.
