Metro Parks Tacoma announced Tuesday the Board of Park Commissioners has awarded a contract to Nordic Construction to begin bond improvement work at Titlow Park. Seven companies submitted bids for the project, which was rebid following receipt of just two responses to an announcement for the project earlier this year. Design and Construction Manager Doug Fraser advised the board that the current bidding process attracted much more favorable responses for the improvements, which include the addition of a new sprayground. Nordic’s competitive bid pricing enabled the district to include two special design features to the sprayground; a shelter trellis and Sea Stones, both of which will integrate the water feature’s architectural design into the park’s unique shoreline setting. Titlow Park is located at 8425 6th Avenue. For more information about the project, visit http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/page.php?id=638 .
