The Hilltop-McCarver mural at 2143 Martin Luther King Jr. Way was designed and created by the Upper Tacoma Business Association, local community members and trained artists to playfully illustrate concepts of Hilltop’s past, present and future. It will be unveiled on Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by honored guests Morris “Mr. Mac” McCollum and Pastor Ivory Crittendon. The artist team was led by Jeremy Gregory and included Marlin Peterson, Laurine Chung and Kate Cendejas. One of eight mural projects recently completed over the past few months, the Hilltop-McCarver mural is part of the portfolio of work done by the Graffiti Reduction Through Community Based Art Safe and Clean team.
