The Tacoma Historical Society (THS) is now accepting reservations for its 3rd Annual “Destiny” Dinner & Auction, to be held on Sun., Oct. 11, 4-8 pm, at the Tacoma Yacht Club. This year, the theme is “Got Timber?” as the program features a look back at “Tacoma, the Lumber Capital of the World.” Seats for the event can be purchased through THS’s Web site at http://www.tacomahistory.org or at the Exhibit Center & Gift Shop at 747 Broadway. Cost is $60 per person ($55 for Society members). Many of the items offered for bid will carry out the theme — including wooden jewelry and kitchen items, children’s wooden toys, and historic logging books and photos. One lucky bidder will win a soaring ride above the trees in a hot air balloon. This annual event provides funding needed to operate the Exhibit Center & Gift Shop, a place where Tacoma’s residents and visitors can learn about Tacoma and its history.
