Spring is fast approaching and now is the time to start preparing lawns and gardens for the growing season. In celebration of the first anniversary of SoundGRO, Pierce County is giving away free samples. On March 14, 21 and 28, residents can pick up two free 50 pound bags of SoundGRO at the Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, 10311 Chambers Creek Road W., University Place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Additional bags of SoundGRO are available for purchase for $3 per 50-pound bag.
SoundGRO is a 100 percent naturally organic biosolids-based fertilizer created by Pierce County’s Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. SoundGRO fertilizer meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) highest standards for biosolid safety and is classified as a Class A ‘Exceptional Quality’ product. The dry pelletized fertilizer offers multiple benefits for initial application, giving plants and grasses the boost they need after a long winter. The gentle 5-4-0 formula is a great choice for reviving plant growth. It is non-burning, has slow-release action, and its water insoluble nitrogen source will not easily wash away like chemical fertilizers.
