Pierce County, Tacoma, Lakewood and other local jurisdictions have joined the Interfaith Roundtable in supporting the 9-11 Hope in Action campaign.
The program encourages Pierce County residents to contribute 10 percent of a days time or income in a deliberate act of kindness in the name of a victim of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
For more information about this program, including a list of suggested acts of kindness, visit the projects Web site at: www.hopeinaction9-11.org.
The public is encouraged to remember and honor victims of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the airline crash in Pennsylvania, at a 7 p.m. gathering at Cheney Stadium this Sept. 11.
Last fall, at a memorial service on Sept. 15, Rev. David Alger, executive director of the Interfaith Round Table of Associated Ministries, said that the best thing we can do to honor the memory of those who have died and who can no longer act for themselves is to perform deliberate acts of kindness and compassion ourselves.
