KeyBank and the City of Tacoma present the 3rd Annual Bank to Bay on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Drivers beware, as the event will cause road closures in downtown Tacoma.
The 10K run, 5K run/walk, 1K kids run and family-fun activities have brought thousands of people into the downtown area in the past two years.
The 10K and 5K races will start between South 15th Street and South 17th Street on Pacific Avenue in the Historic Museum District in downtown Tacoma.
The racecourse runs behind Old City Hall and along Schuster Parkway with the longest distance (10K) turning around at Alder Street (just beyond CI Shenanigans Restaurant), and then returning to finish on Pacific Avenue between South 15th Street and South 17th Street.
Since the races start and finish in downtown Tacoma, Pacific Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets, will be closed from 6:30 p.m.on Saturday, Sept. 7, to 2 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 8.
After the run and walk events, participants can take part in post-event activities that will take place in this closed-off area.
On Sept. 8, during the race (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.), the majority of the course will be closed to traffic.
Schuster Parkway will be completely closed and Ruston Way will be closed to traffic from McCarver to Alder Street.
Any questions about routes or traffic flow prior to the race should be addressed to Sgt. Ross Mueller of the Tacoma Police Department, at 253/591-5932.
The Tacoma Public Schools Help-A-Student Fund is this years charity.
This fund provides necessities to students in need – clothing, shoes and school supplies.
Last year, Bank to Bay donated $10,000 to this fund.
