Tacoma Goodwill Industries has been awarded a grant of $9,000 by The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, Terry A. Hayes, CEO, announced yesterday.
According to Hayes, the grant will be used to provide job development and job placement services for Pierce County jobseekers who have disabilities or disadvantages in finding competitive employment.
Tacoma Goodwill has trained, supported, hired and placed thousands of Pierce County residents into good paying jobs over the last 80 years, Hayes said.
She continued: This grant from The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation will give us the resources to help up to an additional 75 jobseekers with barriers to employment find new opportunities.
The money for this grant was made available by the Sue D. Nilsson Endowment Fund.
The placement services Tacoma Goodwill will be offering can be accessed through the local One Stop, or Pierce WorkSource site, 13th and Tacoma Avenue South.
The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation is a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Tacoma and Pierce County area.
It was founded in 1978 with $10,000 in assets and now administers over 250 funds with custodial assets of over $69 million.
