A community meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at the former Wright Park Community Center, 6th Ave. and I St. to review the master plan developed in 2005 for Wright Park and to begin prioritizing the improvements developed in the master plan. 

Some ideas for improvements to the park include: an open central promenade that reclaims the long view once afforded by the Yakima Avenue corridor; creation of a central green to provide open areas for passive activities and community events; ceremonial entry plazas; relocation and clustering of the playground and sprayground; and renovation and expansion of the ponds to repair leaks, improve access and enhance the aesthetic quality of the park;

The 2005 Park Improvement Bond includes $4 million for Wright Park projects.  A major goal of the park district is to raise additional private and public funds to add improvements to parks and facilities.
