Tickets available for Historic Homes Tour

The Tacoma Historical Society (THS) has announced it will host the Historic Homes of Tacoma “The Bluffs Above the Bay” Tour next month. The tour will embrace Tacoma’s unique topography and include view six homes on the bluffs above Commencement Bay, from Prospect Hill to Whitworth Hill, culminating in the Weyerhaeuser Haddaway Hall (now the Northwest Baptist Seminary) and Tacoma’s renowned Old City Hall.

Ticket books, purchased in advance, contain a brief history of each home and a map. Homes may be visited in any order during tour hours. THS docents will guide visitors through each home. Restrooms, refreshments and souvenirs are available at the Reception Center.

Tours will be held on Sat., May 1, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun., May 2, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets went on sale April 1 for $20. Tickets may be purchased at THS’s Resource Center, 3712 South Cedar Street, in the Outback Plaza. Members-only tickets at the special price of $15 are for sale at the Resource Center. There are also five Tacoma business locations that serve as ticket outlets:

— The Pacific Northwest Shop at North 27th & Proctor

— Stadium Thriftway between Division & First Street in the Stadium District;

— Three Columbia Bank branches: Westgate (North 21st & Pearl St.); Union Avenue (South 19th & Union Ave.); Fircrest (Regents Blvd at Mildred St.);
