The Lady and the Chief call on Tacoma

The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain made the Foss Waterway Seaport a port of call, Friday, Aug. 19. The ships, part of the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport collection, will be available for tours on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free with paid museum admission.

Lady Washington was designated as Washington State’s official ship in 2007, and has been featured in movies and television — most notably in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The ships provide educational programs and extended at-sea sail training while sailing to as many as 40 West Coast ports each year.
