Tacoma seeks nominees for disability advocacy awards

The City of Tacoma’s Commission on Disabilities is calling for nominations for the 2014 Disability Advocate of the Year Awards. The awards, which are given annually, recognize individuals or businesses that have had a positive impact on the quality of life for people with disabilities in the community through business, volunteerism and profession.

Nominations are open now through Fri., Aug. 8. Eligibility requirements and the nomination forms are available online at cityoftacoma.org/disabilityadvocacy or in person from the City of Tacoma Neighborhood and Community Services, located at 747 Market St., Room 836, in downtown Tacoma.

Award recipients will be honored by Tacoma City Council in October, and at the Tacoma Area Commission on Disabilities Annual Awards event in December.
