with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. The Korea Foundation is paying for the expenses incurred by attendees. This convening is designed to promote a better understanding of Korea and to foster mutually beneficial international relationships.

Part of Strickland’s trip will include a visit to technology companies, discussing trade, and making a presentation entitled “Why Women’s Leadership Matters” to international students at Ehwa Womans University.

“Cultivating strong relationships with Korea is important for Tacoma’s educational, cultural and economic future,” said Strickland. “Korea has the world’s fastest internet connection speed and I’m keenly interested in how they made it happen. I also want to explore opportunities for Tacoma students to visit and study in Korea.”

“This visit is part of a joint effort between the Korean Consulate General in Seattle and Korea Foundation, to help promote bilateral relationships and friendships by inviting distinguished leaders abroad,” said Korean Deputy Consul General Byung-kwon Kim. “It will be an opportunity for them to exchange information and their expertise, as they make presentations and visit related organizations.”
