Tacoma City Council to discuss TPU finances, Prairie Line Trail

Tacoma City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday at City Hall to hear from members of the Tacoma Public Utility (TPU) Board on the utility’s finances, including a summary of the TPU’s quarterly financial report, as well as recent bond issues that were completed for Tacoma Power and Tacoma Water (interest rates obtained, cost savings, and anticipated use of funds). In addition, staff will provide an overview of TPU’s community outreach and volunteer programs.

Also during the meeting Tuesday, councilmembers will hear from South Sound Military and Communities Partnership (SSMCP) staff regarding efforts underway to continue their services in light of federal funding cuts for the program.

Finally, City of Tacoma staff will provide an update on the Prairie Line Trail, including an overview of the design process, public outreach, and project schedule.

Councilmembers will not take public comment during the study session, which will be held on Tues., June 4 at 12 p.m. in Room 16 of Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St. Audio from the meeting will be broadcast live on TV Tacoma and online at tvtacoma.com.
