SR 16 squeeze to I-5 in Tacoma may occur this week after weather delay

Temporary but significant changes for the eastbound State Route 16 on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma will resume this week pending further interruption by weather conditions. Crews will reduce the on-ramp at that location to one lane through spring 2017.

  Monday, Oct. 10 – Northbound I-5 collector-distributor exit to northbound Interstate 705 and southbound State Route 7 will close from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.

 Tuesday, Oct. 11 – SR 167 (River Road) on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.

East 27th Street/Portland Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day.

All lanes of northbound I-5 near South 38th Street will be rerouted onto the parallel northbound I-5 collector/distributor and detoured via either SR 7 or I-705 from 11:59 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.

 Wednesday, Oct. 12 – SR 167 (River Road) on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.

East 27th Street/Portland Avenue on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following day.

Southbound I-705 on-ramp to southbound I-5 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Northbound I-5 collector-distributor exit to northbound I-705 and southbound SR 7 will close from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.

 Thursday and Friday Oct. 13-14 – Northbound I-5 collector-distributor exit to northbound I-705 and southbound SR 7 will close from 11:59 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following day.
