Seasonal Gig Harbor Trolley returns for summer

Pierce Transit will offer seasonal trolley service in Gig Harbor for the third consecutive summer.

The seasonal PT Trolley Route 101 will provide passengers with service every 30 minutes between Borgen Boulevard, the historic downtown waterfront district, and the Uptown shopping district beginning on Fri., June 5. Fares are 50 cents per ride, or one dollar for a Pierce Transit All Day Pass when purchased onboard a trolley with cash. Riders showing a Regional Reduced Fare Permit may ride free. The trolley service will run through Mon., Sept. 7.

The trolley service is made possible in cooperation with a Gig Harbor Community Investment Team, which is comprised of the City of Gig Harbor, Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Merchants of Uptown and the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance.

Last year, Pierce Transit’s summer trolley earned the Excellence on Main Award for Community Partnership from the Washington State Main Street Program (see “Gig Harbor trolley pilot program earns downtown revitalization award,” Tacoma Daily Index, May 7, 2014).

“Nothing says summer like seeing the Trolley making its stops,” said Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance Board President Pat Schmidt. “The trolley does a wonderful job of connecting downtown, uptown and now Gig Harbor North areas and all of this within a thirty-minute ride. So come aboard and see what fun awaits you in Gig Harbor.”
