Port of Tacoma tide flats could be home to new liquefied natural gas facility

A 33-acre site on the Port of Tacoma tide flats could soon be home to a new liquefied natural gas facility.

According to Port of Tacoma officials, Puget Sound Energy plans to lease the site, which is located at 901-1001 Alexander Avenue, in order to build the facility to serve both maritime and consumer uses. The 25-year lease includes a feasibility period expected to last one to two years.

The Port of Tacoma Commission is scheduled to vote on whether to enter into the lease agreement during a public meeting on Thurs., Aug. 21, at 12 p.m., at the Fabulich Center (Room 104), located at 3600 Port of Tacoma Road.
