Cartoonist Zach Weinersmith and researcher Dr. Kelly Weinersmith share the future

Celebrated cartoonist Zach Weinersmith and noted researcher Dr. Kelly Weinersmith will be at the Museum on Oct. 20 for a lecture and book signing for their best-selling book, Soonish. Their smart and funny book offers a snapshot of what’s coming next—from robot swarms to nuclear fusion powered-toasters. The 2 p.m. presentation is free with Museum admission.

By weaving together their own research, interviews with the scientists who are making these advances happen, and Zach’s trademark comics, the Weinersmiths investigate why these technologies are needed, how they would work, and what is standing in their way. “We picked out ten different emerging fields to explore with you, and we ordered them roughly from large to small, moving from outer space, to giant experimental power plants, to new ways to build things and experience the world, to the human body, finally all the way down to your brain.
