New Senior Director of Facilities Development at Port of Tacoma

The Port of Tacoma has promoted Lou Paulsen to the position of Senior Director of Facilities Development. A 16-year Port veteran, Paulsen most recently served as Director of Maintenance.

“Lou has held several important positions at the Port of Tacoma, and he has excelled with each new opportunity,” said Timothy J. Farrell, the Port’s Executive Director. “The Facilities Development group includes the Port’s engineering, environmental and contracting functions, as well as safety and risk management. Lou’s management experience will serve him well in leading this diverse group.”

In addition to positions as Senior Director of Facilities Development and Director of Maintenance, Paulsen served the Port as Director of Risk Management and Security.

Before joining the Port of Tacoma in 1988, Paulsen was Regional Director of Loss Control with Mobile, Alabama-based Cooper/T. Smith Stevedoring Company in Long Beach, California. H was also a Loss Control Manager for International Transportation Services, also in Long Beach.

Paulsen holds a B.S. in Nautical Industrial Technology from the California Maritime Academy.
