Lakewood Farmer’s Market returns June 6

The City of Lakewood is happy to announce the sixth season of the Lakewood Farmers Market. Returning this year as the Lakewood Farmers Market Presenting Sponsor, is St. Clare Hospital, while WSECU (Washington State Employees Credit Union) is the stage sponsor.

The Market creates and celebrates Lakewood’s strong sense of community while providing healthy food options for visitors. The market runs Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Opening day is Tuesday, June 6, and runs through September 12. It is located around the fountain, at City Hall (6000 Main St. SW) and features fresh food, organic produce, arts, gluten free items, sweet treats, crafts, live entertainment and music, chef demonstrations and a Master Gardener speaker series.

Kid’s day at the Lakewood Farmers Market is scheduled for Aug. 8, a day is for kids from across Pierce County to sell their handmade items at the market. The Kids Day Program teaches children not only the art of producing a product to sell, but also the basic skills of marketing, sales, expenses and revenues, supply and demand and public interaction. Children are also invited to share their talent on stage. This includes live music, singing, dancing, magic award shows , comedy and more. Also, SummerFest is July 8th at Fort Steilacoom, with free music & outdoor festival, along with a splash of the eccentric! See stilt Walkers, Extreme Trampoline Acts and Fire Dancers, as well as food trucks and a beer garden.
