JobFest: Inaugural young-adult job fair April 15 at Tacoma's STAR Center

STAR Center in Tacoma will soon be home to JobFest, billed by organizers as the largest young-adult job fair in Washington State for job seekers ages 16 to 24.

“Participating in JobFest is a simple way for employers seeking hard-working and eager employees to find many all in one place,” said event project manager and WorkForce Central business services representative Madalain Merton. “It is a chance for employers to share information on their current and future career opportunities and connect with the workforce of the future.”

Participation is free for both employers and job seekers. Two workshops will be held on Weds., April 2, at REACH, 714 S. 27th St., and Fri., April 11 at South Tacoma Library, 3411 S. 56th St., between 3 p.m. to 5pm. to prepare job seekers for JobFest. Registration for the workshops is encouraged at jobfestprep.eventbrite.com.

JobFest will be held on Tues., April 15, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th St., in Tacoma. A special reception for those who participate in the workshops will be held prior to the job fair between 1:15 p.m. and 2 p.m. Job seekers will be welcomed by Tacoma City Councilmember Anders Ibsen and meet with the employer and education exhibitors one-on-one before JobFest begins.
