Hilltop celebrates Music & Murals Sept. 8

Ever wonder what it would be like to step into a common space to celebrate positive change, community, live music and interactive art experiences? Discover for yourself from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8 at Music & Murals in People’s Park on Hilltop, one of Tacoma’s fastest-growing neighborhoods. Music and Murals is a free, family-friendly event.

Visitors may try their hands at interactive art experiences, dine on local cuisine, view incredible pieces of artwork and dance to the eclectic beats from regional musicians.

People’s Park is just one site to explore and connect with community on this day. A public walking tour and map highlighting all murals will guide visitors through Hilltop as they explore and experience the rich history of the neighborhood.

Day-long programming includes music performances by Korla Wygal, A.K.A., Ephryme, Smoke of Oldominion, Rag Dharma, Daniel Blue and Dragonfish Killswitch; live mural creations by Tacoma School of the Arts, Tacoma Works and New Axis in Art; interactive art experiences by Hilltop Artists in Residence, Live Paint, Metro Parks Tacoma and Tacoma Public Libraries. A variety of social service and community service organizations will set up displays at People’s Park.
