Dome Top, South Park neighbors host neighborhood cleanups June 27

The Dome Top Neighborhood Alliance, which runs from Portland Avenue to Pacific Avenue between I-5 and S. 40th Street and the South Park neighborhood, which runs from 47th to 56th streets between Puget Sound Avenue and Tacoma Mall Boulevard and from 56th to 66th streets between Fife and Wapato streets, will host neighborhood cleanups on June 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homeowners in these areas are encouraged to toss the junk and beautify their property as part of the collaborative neighborhood cleaning.

Volunteers and staff from the City will accept items for disposal at the Tacoma Christian Center located on 3507 McKinley Ave. and Edison Elementary School on 5830 S. Pine St. All that is required to dump is a proof of residence for your neighborhood such as a driver’s license or current utility bill. To be eligible for these clean ups you must live in one of these neighborhoods, in a single-family or duplex home. Food donations will also be accepted at the South Park donation location at Edison Elementary School.

Items that can not be dumped include: material from a business; cars, motorcycles, campers or boat parts; truck canopies, trailers, boats or RV vehicles; daily household garbage; liquids, paints and other oil-based products; hazardous waste; riding mowers; and animal carcasses.

A massive cleanup requires the work of many. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Allyson Griffith at agriffith@cityoftacoma.org or call (253) 591-5119. For more information about the neighborhood or the cleanup, visit http://www.cityoftacoma.org/cbs .
