Community Based Services hosts expansion kickoff Oct. 7

Community Based Services continues to expand the area covered on Tacoma’s Eastside and South End. Be sure to mark Oct. 7 as the official kickoff for the Community Based Services (CBS) program expansion into the neighborhoods between South 64th St. to the southern city limits between Sheridan and McKinley neighborhoods. It will also include the area between Interstate 5 and Sheridan from South 84th to 96th streets.

As part of the expansion, City staff will host a kickoff meeting for residents to help set priorities for the area. If you live or work in the new CBS area, you are encouraged to attend to learn more about CBS program and to offer feedback. The meeting will take place on Oct. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fern Hill Elementary School, 8442 S. Park Ave.

The expanded CBS area will now have a dedicated code enforcement officer, community liaison police officer and program development specialist who will work directly with the neighborhood. Together, they will strive to eliminate blight, reduce crime and increase community awareness.
