City schedules 2 neighborhood cleanups in September

Homeowners and renters in single-family and duplex residences in two areas of Tacoma are encouraged to unload unwanted items for free at the last two cleanups of the year.

The first cleanup will be held on Sat., Sept. 8, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Foss High School, 2112 Tyler St., for single-family and duplex residents between 6th and S. 19th Street between Union Avenue and State Route 16. The second cleanup will be held on Sat., Sept. 15, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Hunt Middle School/Geiger Elementary School, 6501 S. 10th St., for single-family and duplex residents in the West End Neighborhood Council.

All that is required to dump in eligible neighborhoods is a proof of residence such as a driver’s license or current utility bill. For more information or start times on the scheduled cleanups and/or neighborhood boundaries, contact Allyson Griffith with Community Based Services at (253) 591-5119.
