City Hall: Fireworks are illegal

All fireworks are illegal in the City of Tacoma. Violators of the fireworks law are subject to a $257 fine and the confiscation of their fireworks.

Most fireworks violations are a class 2 civil infraction and can result in a $257 fine; citizens using fireworks are also subject to arrest for related charges (i.e. arson, reckless burning, assault). Fireworks are permissible within city limits only when a permit has been issued for a sanctioned public event.

From June 28 through July 6, citizens wanting to report fireworks violations should call (253) 798-4722. If the fireworks violation appears to put people or property in immediate danger, call 911. The police will respond to fireworks related calls as units become available.
