City announces #IHeartTacoma photo contest winners

The City of Tacoma has announced the winners of the #IHeartTacoma social media photo contest, which invited local residents to share their love for Tacoma’s unique historic character (see “Celebrate Tacoma’s historic character with #IHeartTacoma,” Tacoma Daily Index, Feb. 2, 2015).

During the month of February, participants were encouraged to print or find a free Tacoma Heart Map and take a picture holding the map in front of their favorite historic building. The photographs were posted to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using @Tacoma_Culture with #IHeartTacoma. The contest was presented by the City of Tacoma’s Landmarks Preservation Commission, the City of Tacoma’s Historic Preservation Office, and artist Tim Norris of TMN Creative and Spaceworks Tacoma participant Tim + April.

The three most “liked” photographs were submitted by Pacific Lutheran University (First Place), Tacoma Jones (Second Place), and PJ Hummel & Company, Inc. (Third Place).
