Biot, France becomes Tacoma's newest sister city

Tacoma City Council Tuesday approved Biot, France to be Tacoma’s newest sister city. This is Tacoma’s 12th sister city. Biot, France is a small village located near the Mediterranean Sea. Biot is known for its glassworks, and Tacoma and Biot plan to base much of their relationship on this commonality. A Tacoma-Biot Sister City committee was formed over six months ago and completed the application process to become a formal sister city. A delegation from Biot, including their mayor, is scheduled to visit Tacoma in May to sign the official documents. The Tacoma-Biot Sister City Committee is accepting members who are interested in becoming involved with this new relationship. Contact Debbie Bingham, sister city coordinator, at debbie.bingham@cityoftacoma.org for more information. For more information, visit http://www.tacomaculture.org/international/sistercities.asp .
