Author to discuss Tacoma's North Slope history

The Tacoma Historical Society has invited Karen May, author of the new book “Tacoma’s North Slope,” published by Arcadia Publishing, to speak at its next Landmark Series of local history talks event on Thurs., Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates, located at 5340 N. Bristol St., in Tacoma. Listed on the local Tacoma Register, the Washington Heritage Register, and the National Register of Historic Places, the North Slope is the largest residential historic district in Washington. The Landmark Series of local history talks is a cooperative effort of the Senior University program at Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Estates and Tacoma Historical Society.
