3 will receive Rusty George Creative Grants

Rusty George Creative recently announced the recipients of the Rusty George Creative Grants for 2010. This graphic design and advertising firm located in downtown Tacoma has provided pro-bono and discounted services to nonprofits in Tacoma/Pierce County for almost a decade. The goal of the grant is to make a significant and meaningful difference for three local organizations, and each year, the employees at Rusty George Creative choose as a team which organizations to support during the year. This year, eighteen qualified organizations submitted applications, each seeking up to $25,000 in graphic design and advertising services.

“Selecting from this group of highly qualified applicants was not easy,” according to principal Rusty George. “Our team chose with an eye for selecting diversity in the causes and committing to projects with creative potential.”

The following organizations have been awarded Rusty George Creative Grants for 2010:

— World Trade Center Tacoma helps to provide businesses in the area with opportunities to succeed in international markets. Part of the global network of World Trade Centers, they provide programs to help exporters and service providers grow their businesses;

— Lakewood Area Shelter Association opened in 1989, and has since put a huge emphasis on reaching out to the homeless and offering programs to help prevent it. Staffed mostly by volunteers, 90 percent of their donations go directly to helping families in need and giving them the tools they need to get back on their feet;

— Northwest Leadership Foundation (NLF) is swiftly moving towards 20 years of community outreach in Tacoma, and they are committed to strengthening and encouraging leadership for a social and spiritual renewal of our city and beyond. With a focus on education, leadership development and organizational capacity building, NLF moves individuals and organizations from good intentions to effective outcomes through their unique insight, relationships, access and know-how.
