3-night public art gathering in Tacoma's Lincoln International District

The City of Tacoma and artist Horatio Hung-Yan Law invite local residents to participate in three public art gatherings in the Lincoln International District.

Law was selected as the lead artist for the Lincoln District Revitalization Project (see “Tacoma panel selects artist for Lincoln District public art project,” Tacoma Daily Index, Nov. 13, 2015; and “Tacoma seeks artists for Lincoln Neighborhood Revitalization Project,” Tacoma Daily Index, Aug. 3, 2015), which aims to revamp the neighborhood by upgrading roads and sidewalks, and creating public art and neighborhood gateways along the district’s primary arterial corridor, which covers a stretch of South 38th Street from Tacoma Avenue South to South Thompson Street (see “Open house offers early peek at Lincoln Neighborhood Revitalization Project,” Tacoma Daily Index, June 26, 2015; and “Lincoln District Streetscape Project open house June 25,” Tacoma Daily Index, June 19, 2015).

During the public art gatherings, Law will lead art activities while attendees will be invited to make artwork with neighbors, learn more about the artwork planned for the Lincoln Streetscape improvements, and learn about a walkability project in the neighborhood. Light refreshments will be provided, and all ages and ability levels are welcome.

The event will be held on Weds., Feb. 17, Thurs., Feb. 18, and Fri., Feb. 19, between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., at the Lincoln Neighborhood Revitalization Project field office, located at 750 S. 38th St., in Tacoma. More information is available online here.
